Hey awesome ones I’m at the mall and I
really want to check and see what’s trending right now. I’ve also gone online.
I’ve been looking in magazines, so today I have ten trending styles in 2020
enjoy. Now as a former model I know that trends
they seem to come and go but you know the good news about 2020 is that a lot
of these styles really look great on women of a certain age. I’m going to
show you ten of them. Well why don’t we start right now. So for number one this
is a little different for me but I want to talk about the color…the color for
2020. That is chosen by Pantone and the color is classic blue. Now if you
don’t know who Pantone is they kind of choose the color for the year. I think
last year it was coral but I love the fact that it’s blue this year. So you’re
going to see a lot of this classic blue and they pick the color you know based
on what they see on runways and what they see for kind of a global global
trend. So let’s take a look at some of the things that I found at my local mall.
Now the good news for me is I absolutely love this color. And you know what you
don’t have to be matchy matchy perfect with a Pantone color. So again you might
not have the exact match of the blue but you can come pretty close to it and I’ve
got a lot of different outfits in this color. I have even a pair of jeans
that’s in this color and if you say well you know what I don’t want to go out and
buy a blouse or a jacket or pants or anything
well then maybe just opt for buying a really pretty scarf with that particular
color in it. And it really does…I’m just going to show you…it kind of really
livens up your face especially if you’ve got those blue eyes going on. And talking
about colors the other thing that I found at the mall was the trending
styles of black and white outfits put together. So let’s take a look at those.
Now the nice thing about this white and black trend is most of us we’ve got this
kind of thing in the closet already and we might have to take a look at some
of the…whoa look at that coat, you know maybe something else to jazz things up
but we’ve got it already. So the other thing that I found about
pairing black and white is not only does it look classic and elegant but
also if you’re wearing like a black skirt or a black dress or maybe some
black pants underneath it’s also got that slimming kind of look which helps
for a lot of us more mature women. Anyway let’s get on to number three. And number
three that I found that is still trending and still very popular are
florals. Now you know what I’m not too sure about these loud floral prints.
Every time I try them on, I don’t know, I feel like an elderly grandmother for
some reason. I prefer to go with the smaller florals also if you’re not model
weight it’ll help you to look a little bit slimmer especially if the floral has
a black background. So talking about prints and patterns another kind of
style that’s popping up all over the place are polka dots.
So polka dots will be my number four. Again if I think if you’re not model
weight you may not want to go with the great big polka dots all over the place.
But for me I certainly would go for this pretty polkadot black and white dress. So
another thing that I saw trending at the mall were purses and handbags with
embellishments and charms on them. So let’s take a look at these. I saw a
lot of bedazzled purses and handbags at the mall and over at Coach they even had
a machine to put on charms and dasslers. And for number six…well it looks like
the retro look of the 60s are back. Now although many of us don’t want to go for
the retro 60s miniskirt like this one we can certainly wear leotards under them.
So hey we can have a lot of fun with this one
especially if we remember the 60s and here I am in my retro look and of course
I’m wearing leotards with it and my sunglasses, but you know what if you’re
old enough to still remember the 60s….. peace baby! Now most of us are going to
be really happy to hear that animal prints because we did buy some of it didn’t we…..
anyway it’s still going to be trending into 2020 and also what will be trending
is faux snakeskin and I found all different colors and styles in the faux
snakeskin. So that’s my number seven .So I saw snakeskin in all different colors
and patterns and don’t forget you can also just add a pair of boots maybe a
faux snakeskin boot or shoe and really just sort of be trending that way. And
talking about number eight yes I have a pair of faux snakeskin shoes but also
they are also highlighting something else that’s really going to be popular
and that’s number eight and that’s the slingback shoe. I know a lot of us if we
really dig deep into our closet we probably have a couple pairs of these. So
that’s the one thing I love about style. Like I’m hanging on to my clothes a
little bit more these days because everything old seems to come around and
be new again. And talking about coming back into style…for number 9…mom jeans
are back! Yeah for mom jeans. So the high-waisted jeans and skirts
they certainly have made a comeback, but not too sure about
this shortened kind of bell bottom look and you’ll notice that I saw a lot of
that. Let me know in the comments if you’re gonna be wearing this shorter
bell bottom look. Now I for one I’m really happy that the high-waisted look
is back because you know what I don’t think I’m ever going to be wearing the
low-rise jeans again. You know like yes I try to exercise but ultimately I’m gonna
have a little bit of a muffin top with those low-rise jeans and I don’t know, I
just think it’s a nicer look and it kind of holds everything in kind of like
shapewear being a high waisted skirt or pair of jeans or pants. Now for number 10
this may not seem like a fashion item but it is…a bold looking lipstick. And it
really really accentuates a lot of the different styles that are showing up for
2020. And you don’t have to go deep dark red or or purple or whatever color you….
or blue I’ve even scene some people with blue, but you know you do have to sort of
make something a little bit bolder. So I must say for myself I’ve graduated from
that lighter kind of pinky frosted lipstick to something with a bolder
color like what I’m wearing today. I also am wearing red too, but this is sort of
more for my everyday look and you know what if you’re you’re thinking you know
maybe I should check this out just go to your favorite makeup stand and start
trying on some of the bolder colors and maybe pick one or two and I guarantee
you you’re probably going to get some compliments of it on it rather I should
say, especially if you’ve been kind of wearing the paler looks for a while.
So I’m going to segue into bringing out the cuteness factor and
our little Yorkie Hurricane. Hey Hurricane how are you? And whenever
Hurricane comes on the scene I talk about upcoming videos and you know what
I’m going to go through my closet I’m going to shop my closet and I’m going to
find maybe five different looks using that black and white ensemble.
You know what I mean. Anyway it’s it’s so classic it’s so elegant and I’m going to
show not just business kind of looks but also some casual looks with capris
and maybe even some other looks that you can wear in the summer months. Also I’ve
never done this before on this channel and that’s I’m going to be putting on a
skincare mask, sorry about that Bill. It might be very scary for you, but yeah I want to
try out a skincare mask and let’s see how it works out. And don’t forget to
check out my Instagram account. Just search Awesome Over 50. Every day I’m
putting out something you know fashion, beauty, inspiration and I’m also doing
the stories now. I bought myself a new iPhone 11 so that I can sort of make
the pictures a little bit nicer for you. So I’m pretty excited about that and
over on our second channel which is
we just put up a video and it’s…..sorry to wake you up…we just put up
a video and it’s about six winter jaunts and getaways you know kind of
staycations things that you can do around your own home and your own home
area. And so we’re excited about that and there’s lots over there on that channel
on travel and food and fun and health and so you might want to check that out
as well. So there were a lot of other trending styles like the trench coat is
coming back and blouses with bows and also clothing with fringes. So there were
a lot of things that I saw and you know what being a former model I I really
want to keep with the trends but I just don’t feel like I have to buy
everything that’s out there and sometimes you just need to add just a
couple of things or two or three things to your wardrobe. So I just got to tell
you that I absolutely love doing these videos for you and having a lot of fun
with fashion as well and I just really want to encourage you especially if
you’re of a certain age over 50 you know to kind of look at some of these things.
Shop your wardrobe for sure ,you know go back and find those slingback shoes and
maybe put together some black-and-white ensembles, but if you do want to go out
and purchase some of them, I know a lot of you are gonna look just fabulous
in that blue and some of the things that I’ve been talking retro retro 60s
anybody. Let me know also in the comments what you might be thinking about trying
out for 2020 that’s a little different even if it’s just a bold colored
lipstick. You know I would love to know in the comments and hey if you’re not a
subscriber yet there’s a button down there that you can just click on and
also a bell that you can click on as well and then you’ll be notified of when
the videos are up. You know I hope that I’m inspiring you whether you buy a
scarf or just a little something something to maybe feel a little bit
more confident about your look and also to keep it awesome.

  1. Hi everyone, Heather here… if you want to find a few things in the trending styles I spoke of in this video, head on over to my blog and scroll down the page to find the links, enjoy!

  2. Great video! So awesome to see some real trends who are really suitable both for work and party! And the blue, wow! 💙🤩

  3. Like the 2020 trends, EXCEPT, I will not be wearing the high-rise bell bottoms or the sling back shoes. I do love the high waisted jeans, the blues, animal prints, and black and white! Thanks so much!

  4. Thanks, Heather! I have always liked the black and white and the small florals. I probably won't be wearing the short, bell bottom jeans.

  5. Recently did a video on this, sort of—60 , I’m always so self conscious about what I wear:

  6. Great ideas and reminds me to check out what I already have and team it up with something simple. Thanks Heather ❤️x

  7. I will not wear the cropped bell bottoms pants. In the 1960’s and 1970’s they were considered high-waters and we would not wear them like that.

  8. Thank you for this trend video. I like that bright blue, but I am more a blush/mauve, sage”y” green, & khaki woman. I’ve slowly been revamping my wardrobe with mainly these colors & I love it. I do have a scarf that has that bright blue though which will fit in.
Re the short bellbottoms. I didn’t like those back in the 60s so won’t be wearing those now either. Lol.

  9. Thanks for the trip to the mall. Thankfully most of us have a lot of these items in one form or another in our closets that we can pull out. I agree with the others that the high flare pants are not flattering and I don’t wear sling backs either. By the way, I believe you had on leggings with your “60’s” top, not tights. Tights have feet in them and you wear them like hose, unless you are taking dance classes! Also I bought a pair of Sofia Vergara high waisted skinny jeans last fall from Walmart and I LOVE them. They have just the right amount of stretch and look so flattering on. Also the price was GREAT! So check those out. I too love the higher waisted jeans. They hide a multitude of problems!

  10. I loved the retro look on you! Bright colors look good on you, like the blue sweater you're wearing. I do not like the goofy looking short bell bottoms. Ick

  11. For sure for red lipstick! And no on the shortened pants—– 🙂
These others are just fun. They have nothing to do with style—-just fashion trends and fads. They may be fun—-but have nothing in common with real style! 🙂
Thanks, Heather—-and deffo shop your wardrobe!! 🙂

  12. Having freakishly long legs and an equally short torso…. mom jeans???? Lol! I kind of am reminiscent of Steve Erkle!!!! Perhaps I shall perfect my new catch phrase of “did I do thaaaaaaaat?” Lol! They do look great on most gals I do admit!
Love the snakeskin ( grateful that what we see now is mostly faux)- and the red lips rock!
See you at Haight- Peace …..

  13. What I've found in the new high waisted "mom jeans" is they are nothing like the old high waisted ones. The new ones are soooo comfortable.

  14. Love the black and white, no to the short bell bottoms and no to the bold lipstick. On me, the bold lipstick is very aging. Like the high rise jeans. Hugs to all three of you – Barbara

  15. Thank you so much for this video! I love the snow leopard and snake prints, but I've never actually taken the plunge; maybe I finally will!

  16. Super video thanks! Love everything on the new trends…fashion is one of my passions! Blue is one of my colors and I have a thing for black and white, lol, but actually for a lot of things! Going over to Instagram to follow you. If you would like to follow me I am I love home decor and fashion and actually do have a few outfit shots on my grid, the last one being leopard! I am 62, soon to be 63 & plus size, but I am always adding to my wardrobe and just might give those short bell bottoms a try! 😊👌💕

  17. Hi Heather! Surely will go for a bold lipstick! I follow you and love the way you present the videos!Namaste from India.🙏

  18. No short bell bottoms, they look like clown pants. Yay for high waisted jeans coming around again. Your everyday look is beautiful. The bold lip is beautiful on you.

  19. Hi Heather what a great video! I always love looking to see what is on trend and you can us either implement them or not use them and have some fun if you want. I don't think you would see a lot of us wearing the short bell bottoms though lol and seeing your comments many agree ha ha! I love the pantone colour this year and yes to the pop of colour to the lips. You look fabulous! xo Jackie

  20. Love all of these trends (no low rise jeans for me). YES!!!!! I will be wearing the cropped bell bottoms with pointy toe pumps! I have featured some in my videos. xo

  21. Peace Baby !! ✌️ … I’m not one for animal prints or polka dots. But that’s not saying I wouldn’t try an outfit on. Definitely no bell bottoms, I’ve never been one for low rise jeans and definitely not crop pants. 😁

  22. I'm not too much into " trendy ", I prefer to keep it classic but I also have some " fun pieces ". … That I incorporate into some outfits when I'm feeling like I want to kick it up a little, lol. I love slingbacks, I feel as though it's such a feminine shoe, I have quite a few pairs. I've ALWAYS been that " fringe girl", I love jackets and clothing with fringe. … I had that going on in high school, and I still love it! ( At 65 years young !) But not that " cheapie fringe", I'm talking the beautiful fringe. Uhhhhh huh. 😉
Nice video , Miss Heather, thank you !

  23. Like the animal print (have lots), like the polka dots & have some (not big dots), like the high waisted pants..if they are very stretchy and fitted..found some at Walmart this time last year (not big and bulky around the hips and waist); A BIG NO on the crazy bells – good for kooky teens like the babysitter in movie Sleepless in Seattle; like the blue for gals with blue eyes… I don’t wear it myself; like some of the snake print; you are correct about the floral print dresses – can look like an old grandma and also can make us look big.. but very nice on young women; and like your sling back pumps, but now that I’m 74 yrs old.. not sure if I can wear them anymore.. (my feet hurt easily and I can loose my balance or turn an ankle).
A big thank you for this 2020 fashion trends… I’ll shop my closet.

  24. Very nice video Heather. I love that classic blue and black and white outfits are always perfect for a day when you just can't decide what to wear. Polka dots are always fun and small floral prints are nice for summer dresses and tops.

  25. Heather, really enjoyed these wearable new trends- I love the bolder lipstick on you, and have been wearing red 💄💕 lipstick myself….the only trend I won’t be wearing are the short flare legged pants- not flattering at all for most!!

  26. I have been wearing flared denim and fringe and hippie dippy clothes since day one……good to see the youngsters jumping on board.

  27. Great video, Heather! I am so glad that the 'mom' jeans are back in style! They are more flattering for my body type (round belly)! It IS funny that the styles come around again! I know I have some polka dots in my closet somewhere!

  28. Hi Heather! All these trends are doable for me except the short bell bottoms–they are strictly for the younguns! I'm happy to hear about slings because I have a very narrow heel, and my pumps always seemed to slip off. Slings solve that problem, and they are still in my closet waiting for attention. I'm looking forward to actually seeing us ordinary women wearing these 2020 trends, thanks!

  29. I’m all over the shorter bell bottom pants, but I like them with a wide leg…1970s gauchos anyone?😉. Love that blue scarf Heather!

  30. Similar trends in London. Large bags, polka dots, large florals on floaty long tiered dresses, wide leg trousers – does this finally mean the end of the 'horrid on me' skinny trouser ? Ankle length trousers, larger collars, puffy sleeves. There is a lot to like this season. It might be an optical illusion watching on the screen but please can you just tuck that pretty silver vase with roses in that's sitting behind your left shoulder just a bit further onto the shelf…I'm sure it's going to fall off any minute now and it's making me nervous !!!!!

  31. Love the colour, been a favourite of mine since my hair whent white/ silver, from a burgundy clour I know but I had deep red burgandy hair. So colbolt blue I love, might look in my wardrobe might have something thats fashionable, certainly got sling backs. Want full seat jeans, they are certainly look better.Seen lots of those masks so help there will be helpfull

  32. Hi Awesome Heather. The new season is a bit uneventful isn't it. I think it's a good opportunity to use out closet and just add a few key bits this spring dont you. Hugs from London and love to Bill from us xx

  33. Cropped bell bottom pants might work for some people, but for a short person, I don't think it would look that great. I am so glad that blue is the Pantone color of the year! It is my favorite color.

  34. Thanks for doing the research and enjoying the mall. I like some of the trends and others like the large flowered prints, not so much. I agree with you in those. Too mature! Ha. Enjoy.

  35. Hey girl!! Wow your channel took off…. Love ! Great video! Enjoying the new styles. btw – I will not do the short bell bottom look… don't love it.

  36. Hey have such a great sense of style for us mature ladies..I am glad that high waisted jeans are making a comeback..Mom jeans, love them..thanks for sharing, sweetie..:)

  37. Yorkie's are great, aren't they? On fashion, shorter bell bottoms are not flattering for anyone. The proportion is never right! The recent trend of leaving several inches space between short boots and rolled jeans is not gross, just a bit dicey. What do you do with that extra piece of leg? Lol . Excited about the return to red, though. Love some fringe, bows, old fashioned polka dots that look more like the 50s than the current polka dot designs. Can we have more kitten heels, too? Having trouble finding good designs and heel heights. And this is in NYC!

  38. There are some looks that I would never wear…number 1 would be the crop bell bottoms..number 2 would be the mini skirt..but I love polka dots, blue, and black and white looks. I have those in my wardrobe but may be a little update.

  39. No, High Rise jeans are NOT mom jeans. They are very closely FITTED through the hip and thigh now. Mom jeans had pleats in the front and bagginess through the butt and thighs. Negative on the Cropped boot cut.

  40. New subscriber from the Beautiful Emerald Coast Of Florida! Always loved black and white. I’m 5’10” so short bell bottom pants are not my style! I own a MAC lipstick similar to the color you’re wearing and I love it. Thank you for sharing! 💙🐬💙🐠💙

  41. I’m all for the wider leg slacks /jeans. I will not be wearing the short bells . No way , it shortens the leg & the entire body .

  42. I love bell bottoms, but not the short ones. Guess i will be sporting the blue eye shadow look. That will be scary lol.

  43. I watch all your videos I'm almost 62 and it's so wonderful to see a woman whose my age and who still wants to look attractive. You dress appropriate for your age while still managing to look current.Classic blue looks beautiful on you with your blue eyes and cool toned complexion but on me not so much.Im more of an autumn type skin tone so my best blues are turquiose, teals, and many more warmer blues as can be seen on kettlewell.I always wear what I like and looks good on me not what's trending.

  44. High waist-yes; high water bell-bottoms- NOOO! Love the bright blues and the black and white trend. As a sewist, I have been making polka dot blouses and black and white tops. I agree smaller scale is definitely better for those of us over 50. Just made one for my sweet little mom, over 80. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

  45. I like the mom jeans! Glad they're back but not a fan of the short length unless it's a capri. I have a flare/bell Levi jean but my ankles are covered, lol. Since I've gone & embraced my gray hair, my lip color has gone from nude to colorful.

  46. Ha ha, short bell bottoms. I think cropped pants are unflattering period. Cropping bell bottoms takes this to a whole other level (no pun intended).

  47. A fourth of my closet contains that blue tone in tops and shoes that was bought over at least four years. The real "trending" color through fashion and home decor this year is mustard. I look horrible in it, but mustard pillows look amazing in my office with its three shades of blue walls. The black and white have also been trending for a few years… again, I reference my closet and shoes. What I notice is that what I buy because the patterns or color shades are different is that it 'trends' after I'm sick of it. Obviously, I'm ahead of the 'trending' cycle. As for the rest… trending means something a lot of people are wearing or displaying. The dresses and pants shown here are not trending because the style is polarizing, meaning they only look good on a select shaped people. The bell Capri's only look good on tall, skinny people.

  48. A Leotard in England is like a swimsuit with sleeves for exercise so when you said you’d wear a leotard under that skirt I couldn’t quite fathom lol!
